Hamanako- Lake Hamana

The red torii-like gate floating on Hamana Lake is very scenic with the Hamana Lake Ohashi Bridge in the background. You can enjoy the scenery like the famous places in Hiroshima and Hakone. Since its construction in 1973 as the “Bentenjima Tourist Symbol Tower,” it has been a well-known symbol of Bentenjima among locals and tourists.

Satta-Toge

The most iconic view on the Tokaido highway was made famous in the Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Hiroshige. You will see the Tokaido Main Line, National Route 1, and Tomei Expressway, Japan's most important infrastructures simultaneously with Mt.Fuji. Enjoy the spectacular view with your own eyes printed by Hiroshige.

Sayo no Nakayama

Saya-no-Nakayama Pass, located between Nissaka-juku and Kanaya-juku on the old Tokaido Highway, was a difficult part of the highway with steep slopes. Cedar Street in Goyu

About 300 large pine trees line a 600-meter stretch between “Miyujuku” and “Akasakajuku” on the former Tokaido Highway. The black pine trees were planted in 1604 by order of Ieyasu Tokugawa, and are designated as a national natural monument. The old townscape is a symbol of the prosperity of “Goyujuku,” the 35th inn on Tokaido Highway.

Seki-Juku

More than 200 buildings built between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period still remain in the area, and their tasteful appearance reminds us of the past.

In 1984, the area was selected by the national government as an “Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings,” and in 1986, it was selected as one of the 100 best roads in Japan.
